Making the PANAX Web Experience Self-Sufficient#63

Hi PANAX Team,

I really enjoy your platform and the community you’re building. However, as a user who prefers accessing PANAX via a computer, I find the current website experience quite limiting and frustrating.

Since this is a social network for gamers—a demographic that spends a lot of time on PCs and consoles—having a fully functional, self-sufficient website would make the user experience much more comfortable. Currently, the website feels too dependent on the mobile app.

Here are a few specific issues and suggestions for improvement:

“Game Rate” Pop-up: Clicking the “Game Rate” button on the homepage simply triggers a pop-up asking to install the app. It would be great to have this feature work natively on the web.

Profile Syncing Bug (Critical): After changing my username on the mobile app, the website failed to sync the update. Now, I am completely unable to access my profile on the website; it just throws an error stating that it cannot load my profile information.

Missing Messaging Feature: The ability to send and receive messages is currently missing from the website, forcing users to switch to their phones just to chat.

Editing Reviews: There is currently no option to edit reviews via the website if they were originally created on the app.

I hope you consider bringing parity between the web and app versions so users aren’t forced to use their phones for basic social interactions and profile management.

Keep up the good work, and I hope to see these improvements in the future!

Best regards,

luis_edu

About the “Profile Syncing Bug” — this is my screen when I click to access my profile page:

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

Game Rate
The website has been focused on community features first, which is why some game-related features are still missing. Game rating is currently in development, and we hope to have it available soon.

Profile
Profile URLs currently use usernames, so changing your username will also change your profile URL. Unfortunately, the old URL will no longer work. We’ll look into better ways to handle this in the future.

Messaging
Messaging on the web is planned for the future. However, since messaging depends heavily on notification support, it is currently a lower-priority feature for the website.

Editing Reviews
You can already edit reviews on the website by clicking the “…” menu in the top-right corner of the review.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. Feedback like this helps us prioritize future improvements, and we’ll continue working to make the web experience better over time.

Hi again,

Just a quick update: the profile sync issue was resolved after I signed out and logged back in.

However, regarding the review editing feature, whenever I try to edit a review on the website that I originally wrote on the app, I get a notification stating that edits can only be made on mobile. I’ve attached a screenshot of the message below:

Thanks for the detailed feedback.

I checked points 2 and 4 and realized there was a misunderstanding on our side.

For 2, we’re already aware of the profile sync issue and are currently working on a fix.

For 4, the web version supports formatted reviews, while the app currently only supports plain text reviews. Because the formats don’t match, reviews created in the app can’t be edited on the website at this time. We’re planning to bring formatted reviews to the app soon, so hopefully this limitation won’t be around much longer.

As for 1, we’re planning to deploy the Game Rate feature to the website later today or tomorrow.

Thanks again for your feedback and for supporting PANAX!

Aside from Messaging and web editing for app-written reviews, all requested features have been implemented. We’ll do our best to add the remaining features soon.

Thank you for using PANAX!
